Dr. Wyndol Furman is a John Evans Professor in the Psychology Department. He is also the Director of Clinical Training;

Professional Biography

Throughout his career, he and his team of graduate and undergraduate students have worked to understand the role of close relationships in children, adolescents and young adults’ adjustment. For the last 20 years he has focused on romantic relationships in Project Star, a longitudinal study of 200 youth who were recruited when they were in the 10th grade. In the past, he has worked with teachers in local school systems to promote social skills and positive peer relatinships. Most recently, he has been working on a project to use digital games to foster close relationships in young adolescents from underresourced communities. He received the John P. Hill Memorial Award for Lifetime Contribution to the Understanding of the Second Decade of Life from the Society for Research in Adolescence and the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award, International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development, 2012

Dr. Furman also is the Director of the Clinical Training Program. Graduate students receive extensive individualized training in clinical research and practice based on clinical science.
