The certificate in performance is a one-year program designed for extended work in an applied performance area. It combines personalized instruction, engaging classroom study and practical experience to provide students with a robust base of knowledge in their instrument. Working closely with the Lamont School of Music's top-tier faculty, students perform with their peers while preparing for professional work in the music industry.

Audition Requirements

Applicants must complete the graduate application and perform an audition. Please the appropriate studio page to view your specific requirements.

    Degree Requirements

    The certificate in performance consists of 12 credit hours, which can be completed in one academic year. Students must also complete juried performances (as required by the performance area) and at least one recital of solo repertoire.

    Candidates will normally be enrolled in the performance certificate program for one year. Candidates may, however, request to remain in school longer with the stipulation that they must enroll in applied lessons, assigned ensembles, and chamber music every quarter, even after the required number of credits have been met.
