High school and junior high students often wish that political decisionmakers would just listen to them, and some political decisionmakers say they would like to hear more often from young people. So a group of faculty and students from the University of Denver decided to create ways for this communication to happen.
It's been over a year since issues of free speech were brought to the forefront at DU. Since the incident, the University has employed various tactics to reiterate its support for open dialogue during a time when free speech has unfortunately become synonymous with hateful or racist speech.
Is DU truly creating an "inclusively excellent" environment for its Muslim students, a student population who may be faced with religious or racial prejudice? Further, how much can a college campus really do when it comes to protecting its students?
