Duane Michals is a young man of almost 90 years and one of the American masters of photography. He works as a storyteller incorporating handwritten texts, adding another dimension to the images’ meaning. Michals always balances fragility and strength, gravity and humour. Since 2015, the DU alumnus has worked mainly in the medium of short film. Join him and Roddy MacInnes, associate professor at the School of Art & Art History, for this special evening where Michals will screen some of his recent short films exploring a wide range of genres, including memoir, dream narrative, burlesque, farce, literary fantasy and murder mystery. Michals has been selected as the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences Lifetime Achievement Honoree for 2021 at the University of Denver.
