Honoring CAHSS Excellence: Summer 2025 Awards

This summer's CAHSS award winners.
This summer, several students within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS) received prestigious financial awards to fund their student experiences, ranging from dissertations and graduate research to undergraduate internship opportunities. We are proud to share their names and achievements!
Dean's Dissertation Fellowships
Each year, the Dean's Office in CAHSS offers dissertation fellowships to students pursuing completion of their doctoral work. Awardees, nominated by faculty in their departments from a highly competitive pool of applicants, are chosen to receive a year of financial support. This year's awardees include Arianna Lane, who is pursuing a doctoral degree in Psychology, and Monroe Lawrence and Mary Helen Callier, who are both pursuing doctoral degrees in English & Literary Arts.
Greinetz Scholarship Awards
The Toba Laff Greinetz Scholarship supports the work of exemplary domestic and international graduate students in CAHSS. Recipients are chosen by department chairs, directors or designees. This year's awardees include Helitha Mwashiuya, who is pursuing a master's degree in Media & Public Communication from the Department of Media, Film & Journalism Studies, and Caitlin Cornell, who is pursuing a master's degree in English & Literary Arts.
Summer Internship Awards
While internships provide invaluable experience to individuals starting in their field, not every internship opportunity is paid. Fortunately, DU's Burwell Center for Career Achievement annually offers the Summer Internship Award Program, which awards students with funds ranging from $2,500-$3,400 for participating in unpaid internships.
In the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), we support internships as an increasingly important part of preparing students for life following graduation and strive to empower and support them in pursuing their career goals. Through the Summer Internship Award Program, we can more effectively help our students achieve these goals by opening doors that would have otherwise been unavailable through financial aid.
This year's awardees include:
- Auty Scherden, 2nd year, majoring in violin performance
- Gigi Riviere, 2nd year, majoring in political science and socio-legal studies
- Yarrow Ator, 3rd year, majoring in psychology and philosophy
