Professional Biography

Born in Pt. Neches, TX 1947; after completing a PhD at Ohio University returned to the south (Columbus, GA); won Yale Younger Poets Award, first book published in 1978. In 1985 moved to Denver. His thirteenth book of poems will appear in 2018. Edited a poetry series for the University of Georgia Press for twenty-one years (83 books); edited the Denver Quarterly for seventeen years, currently is poetry editor. Occasionally teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Married to Linda Keating Ramke since 1967. They have one child, Nicolas.
