Professional Biography

Born in Pt. Neches, TX 1947; after completing a PhD at Ohio University returned to the south (Columbus, GA); won Yale Younger Poets Award, first book published in 1978. In 1985 moved to Denver. His fourteenth book of poems will appear in 2021. Edited a poetry series for the University of Georgia Press for twenty-one years (83 books); edited the Denver Quarterly for seventeen years. Occasionally teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Married to Linda Keating Ramke since 1967. They have one child, Nicolas.
