Professional Biography
Bohan Hou comes from a family of artists. Her mother is a professor of traditional Chinese dance, and her father was a singer. Born and raised in China, Bohan began studying violin at the age of four. She completed her undergraduate degree in music performance at Idaho State University, earning Summa Cum Laude honors, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in music performance at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. Bohan's exceptional playing skills earned her a place in the Idaho Falls Symphony 2022 Young Artists Final Competition. Since the age of eight, she has performed in various orchestras, including, but not limited to, the St. Helena Symphony in Montana, the Wuhan Chamber Orchestra, and the Idaho State Civic Symphony.
Bohan has extensive teaching experience. She began giving private violin lessons in high school. Due to her outstanding teaching experience, she was selected to start teaching violin in the Preparatory Strings Program at Idaho State University in 2020. Before moving to Denver, Bohan maintained a large studio with students ranging in age from five to 24. In 2024, she moved to Denver, Colorado, and began teaching elective violin courses at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music. That same year, she began giving private lessons on Suzuki violins. She has now completed all Level 1 courses in the Suzuki program and earned the corresponding certificate. Under her guidance, many of her students have successfully performed in various recitals.
In addition to being an educator and performer, Bohan is an outdoor enthusiast. She finds relaxation in skiing, scuba diving, camping, and yoga. In her free time, she enjoys solo road trips through various national parks.
