Professional Biography
Allan Stoekl, adjunct professor at the University of Denver, has taught and written on modern French and European literature and intellectual history for over forty years, first at Yale, then at Penn State (University Park). In recent years he has written extensively on questions of “sustainability” from the perspective of postmodern thought, most notably in two books, Bataille’s Peak (2007) and The Three Sustainabilities (2021), both published by the University of Minnesota Press. He has also edited and translated a number of works by French authors Georges Bataille, Maurice Blanchot, and Paul Fournel.
