CAHSS Staff Summertime Bests

Part three in a three-part CAHSS News series.

Soon after CAHSS graduating students depart for the summer, things quiet down enough for many of us to breathe, get caught up and dream up innovative ways to better support our CAHSS students, faculty and each other in the upcoming school year.

The CAHSS newsroom asked CAHSS staff members to share what they like best about being on campus over the summer, including their picks for best lunch spots, best strolls around campus, best hideaways to get work done, best place to hold meetings outside and best ways to de-stress and cool off. Here’s what they had to say.

Jake Riffel, coordinator, Marketing & Communications

Best part of being on campus over the summer? Summer is a great time to catch up on projects, strategize for the year ahead and learn new skills, making us a sharper team for the following academic year.

Best lunch spots? Snarf’s!

Best hideaways to get work done? Any reservable room in the Burwell Center.

Best ways (or places) to de-stress and cool off? The quad in front of Sturm Hall.

Best part of being on campus over the summer? I love the excitement in Sturm Hall generated by dozens of book lovers attending the Denver Publishing Institute to learn about the publishing industry!

Darlene Squires, business officer I, Business Operations

Best part of being on campus over the summer? The chance to reset and have a quiet workplace.

Best lunch spots? Illegal Pete's, Snarfs, Chipotle and Tacos El Metate.

Best hideaways to get work done? Other than my office, any open classroom in Sturm, since most are vacant.

Best place to meet outside? Anywhere with shade.

Best stroll around campus? Sturm Hall to Mary Reed or even continuing on to the Newman Center.

Best place to cool off? The Burwell Center. They usually have plenty of rooms to use and it is a nice building with communal kitchens.
