In the Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies program, you'll examine the roles of gender, race and sexuality in the lives of all people. We offer an interdisciplinary undergraduate major and minor, with courses taught throughout the University by a diverse group of faculty. In our courses, you'll explore contemporary questions and conversations about the many meanings of gender in our lives, vitalized by recent feminist, ethnic and queer scholarship.
In our program, you'll explore how gender intersects with race, ethnicity, class, age, sexuality, disability identity and other categories of difference. By applying interdisciplinary approaches, you'll engage with contemporary events through conversations inside and outside the classroom. You can further enhance your education by pursuing an internship. Our program will help you better understand our world and prepare you for careers where you can make a difference.
"While I was learning more about myself and getting more of that personal identity development through gender and women's studies, policy was letting me see how the world around me was reacting to me and vice versa."
Makia Jones, BA '19, gender & women's studies and public policy.
