What I do

My primary role at the University of Denver is researching, interviewing subjects, drafting, and publishing feature stories that highlight various CAHSS students, alumni, donors, and faculty members in CAHSS News, the main source of news for the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences. 

Professional Biography

Susan Dugan serves as writer for CAHSS Marketing & Communications team, primarily writing feature stories for CAHSS News. She spent her early career working primarily in the corporate world and managed, wrote, and edited Kaiser Permanente internal magazines in the Northern California Region and later national headquarters before relocating to Denver in the 1990s.
 
Over the years she has worked as a contract feature writer for regional and local newspapers, magazines, newsletters, and a variety of organizations, and wrote monthly personality profiles for “The Washington Park Profile.” She also spent years actively engaged as a volunteer in Denver Public Schools (DPS), teaching creative writing and advocating for gifted and talented education, and creating a program to bring children’s book authors into DPS to boost literacy.
 
Dugan has written for the Community College of Denver and prior to joining DU, served as senior writer for CU Denver’s online publication “CU Denver News.” She has a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Boston University and her creative writing continues to appear in print and online literary magazines.
