In Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies, we create connections with our communities through our research and events. We're committed to exploring the ways that feminism, in both its political and scholarly traditions, can illuminate and create change in our communities in Denver and around the world.
We welcome you to learn more about our program and our faculty's areas of interest, and we hope you'll attend one of our on-campus or community events.
With Our Communities
Our teaching and research explores real issues that impact our local and global communities. Whether our faculty are working with local organizations to create community-engaged projects or our students are serving in internships to support grassroots change, we're deeply invested in the ways feminism and gender studies intersect in our communities.
During her time as an undergraduate, Lanie Cohen (BA '21) participated in an internship with Denver organization Girls Inc. of Metro Denver (GIMD), where she supported their new Advocacy Platform through political outreach. Cohen evaluated data and political legislation to create streamlined documents for legislators, helping legislators access information and prioritize important initiatives to support advocacy across metro Denver.
From public lectures to discussion groups, the Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies program hosts many events helping our campus and local communities interrogate and understand how gender, sexuality and race shapes our societies. Whether you're interested in learning what gender studies means or you want to explore a particular topic, we welcome you to join our events on campus and in the community.
