Professional Biography
Christie Macfarlane began playing piano at the age of six in her home country of South Africa and moved to the United States in 2015.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2023, studying under Dr. Jooeun Pak, and also completed a minor in Entrepreneurship. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, where she studies with Dr. Stephanie Cheng. Christie has also earned a Graduate Certificate in Piano Pedagogy under the mentorship of Dr. Emily McGree.
She currently serves as a graduate teaching assistant at DU, where she teaches piano and organizes end-of-quarter recitals for collegiate students. She is the president of the Denver Area Collegiate Chapter of MTNA.
Christie is passionate about teaching and is dedicated to making the learning journey engaging and enjoyable. She strives to inspire her students to develop a lasting love for music.
