Professional Biography

Prior to joining DU in 2024, I worked at Rice University from 2015-2023, where I served as the Associate Director of the Program in Jewish Studies and the founder and first curator of the Joan and Stanford Alexander South Texas Jewish Archives. I have received grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Council on Library and Information Resources, the Southern Jewish Historical Society, the Texas Jewish Historical Society, and several foundations.

  • BA Northwestern University, 2004
  • MA University of Maryland, 2011
  • PhD University of Maryland, 2015

My work focuses on the experiences of American Jews and Jewish communities between the East and West Coasts, principally in Colorado and Texas. My recent publications examine Jewish immigration to the U.S. through Galveston, Texas in the years before WWI and the evolution of Jewish neighborhoods in Houston.
