Professional Biography

Moustapha Ly majored in English and Anglophone Studies at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Senegal. After his pre-doctoral degree, he continued his studies in the US at Kansas State University where he earned an MA in Modern Languages and Literatures (French and Francophone Studies). Then, he was admitted to the graduate program of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he completed his PhD in Francophone Studies on the oeuvre of Édouard Glissant. He specializes in postcolonial literatures and studies in the Francophone Caribbean and the Black Diaspora in general. His publications on the African novel of postcolonial disillusionment and in Francophone Caribbean literature have appeared in international and national journals such as The French Review, The Journal of African and Postcolonial Studies, Dalhousie French Studies.
He joined the University of Denver in Fall 2015 after one year of postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan.
