Professional Biography

Pamela Miller is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Psychology Department. She teaches a range of courses from Foundations of Psychological Science to higher-level Social and Developmental courses. Her educational background includes an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Notre Dame and her Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Pamela worked as a post-doc and research professor for over five years at the University of Houston on a project aimed to improve maternal parenting skills and reduce conduct problems in children of battered women. In 2012, she began teaching at the University of Denver. As a teacher, she challenges students through self-reflection and critical thinking to discover their own unique qualities as well as their biases. Her desire is for students to not only succeed in the classroom but learn skills that will ensure their success in the future. She continually works to ensure her classroom is a positive learning community for all students allowing a safe space for engagement and growth. In 2015, Pamela was appointed as a faculty advisor to students majoring or minoring in psychology. And, in 2017 she was named the Faculty Advisor of Year.
