Professional Biography

With a philosophy based on a solid and broad understanding of vocal pedagogy and vocal health, Catherine Kasch has been a teacher of singing for over 35 years and has served on the Lamont School of faculty since 1999. She was named Chair of the Voice Department at Lamont in 2020. Catherine received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, where she studied with the renown vocal pedagogue, Dr. Barbara Doscher. She received her master's degree and Artist Certificate from Northwestern University.

Ms. Kasch has presented masterclasses at the International Opera Studio in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Sydney Conservatory of Music in Sydney, Australia. The Royal Conservatory in Den Haag, the Netherlands, the Young Singers of the Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe, NM, Northwestern College, Minneapolis, MN, NOCCA in New Orleans, LA, Las Vegas Academy, Las Vegas, NV, just to name a few.

Ms. Kasch's students have been accepted to Rice, Yale, Indiana University, University of Michigan, NYU Steinhart, BARD, New England Conservatory San Fransisco Conservatory and other prestigious schools. Her former students have performed with outstanding venues such as Washington Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, St. Louis Opera Theater, London's West End, Des Moines Metro, Chataqua, Miami Lyric Opera and Broadway.

As a soloist, Catherine performed with North Shore Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Heights Symphony Orchestra, Libertyville Orchestra and Chorus, Light Opera Works, and Bravura Opera Works. She was a recording artist with Shawnee Press and the Harold Flammer Series and was a regular soloist with the "Chicago Sunday Evening Club" television program on station WTTW in Chicago. Catherine was "Miss Colorado" in the 1978 "Miss America Pageant", where her talent was singing.

Catherine Kasch's passion for teaching won her the 2010 William T. Driscoll award for excellence in teaching as well as a 2020 Faculty Champion Award.
