Professional Biography

David Artley holds degrees in Music Performance from Iowa State University and Northwestern University. His mentors on trumpet include Joseph Christensen, Rolf Smedvig and Vincent Cichowicz. He performed with The United States Army Field Band, the Army’s Premier Touring ensemble, from 1985 to 1990 and with The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”, the Army’s Premier DC Band, from 1994 to 2013. Artley was an active freelance performer and teacher during his time in Washington, DC and continues as such in Colorado, where he has performed with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, the Fort Collins Symphony, the Fort Collins Opera, the Pueblo Symphony, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Inside the Orchestra. He currently serves as Assistant Principal Trumpet with the Denver Municipal Band and Principal Trumpet with the Denver Brass. David is a Bach Trumpet Performing Artist
