Jayme Eck

Jayme Eck is the Manager of Admission at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music & Theatre, where she works to recruit and support the next generation of creative arts students. As a Lamont alumna herself, Jayme brings a unique perspective to her work in admission, having experienced the warm and welcoming environment Lamont provides for its students. She is passionate about helping students discover their interests, navigate important decisions, and find the resources and opportunities they need to achieve their goals and aspirations. 

Outside of her work at Lamont, Jayme maintains a freelance career as a cellist, playing with orchestras throughout the Southwest. Her recent engagements include performances with the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra under the direction of Peter Oundjian, as well as the New Mexico Philharmonic. Jayme is dedicated to making classical music more accessible through outreach performances, education, and online communities. Through her social media platforms, Jayme has cultivated a community of over 35,000 musicians and music enthusiasts, including over 25,000 followers on Instagram (@jaymeckello), where she shares educational content and glimpses into the life of a classical musician. 

As an educator, Jayme believes that musical training develops skills that extend far beyond the practice room and recital stage, helping students become thoughtful musicians who approach challenges with confidence, patience, curiosity, and intention. Her experience as a private cello teacher has shaped her commitment to creating nurturing environments where students can grow both artistically and personally. 

Jayme holds a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance, summa cum laude, and a Suzuki Pedagogy Certificate in Cello from the University of Denver. She received her Master of Music in Cello Performance from Texas Christian University, where she served as a graduate teaching assistant and supported undergraduate students in the music department. Her primary mentors include Juliette Herlin, Matthew Zalkind, Alice Yoo, and Heather Hadley.
