She holds a BA in music and international studies (Rhodes College), and an MA (Claremont Graduate school) and PhD (University of Colorado-Boulder) in musicology. Her 2015 publication Bound Music, Unbound Women (College Music Society Press) interrogates the cultural politics of women's collections of popular parlor songs in the United States. With active interests in historiography, iconography, and how music intersects with the economics and politics of 19th-century culture, Dr. Frazier regularly publishes and presents papers both nationally and internationally and has articles in a variety of places including the Grove Dictionary of American Music and Women and Music. She is an active member of the Society of American Music.
