Taylor Hendley — Communication Studies & Marketing

"I decided to major in communication studies because it has many avenues I can dive into after college. The program offers courses that build my verbal and nonverbal communication skills and critical thinking. My biggest takeaway is how everyone comes from different backgrounds, and we all communicate in different ways. From interpersonal to organizational communication, I have learned many ways to interact with others in various settings that will benefit me for a lifetime.”

Anna Neumann — Communication Studies & Journalism Studies

"I knew going into this field that communication is key in almost everything in life, but this program has confirmed that in so many ways. From productive dialogue about our political climate to fiery debates at the dinner table, communication is in everything and it's so important to know how to do it right. I plan to use my degree in communications and journalism to get my foot in the door of the reporting world after graduation. I recently worked as an intern at the Argonne National Laboratory in a suburb of Chicago, helping the organization's communications team develop new and unique ways to use (or not use) AI in their external and internal communications."

Anna Filippova — Communication Studies & Political Science

Anna Filippova is an undergraduate student double-majoring in Communications and Political Science, with a minor in Socio-Legal Studies graduating in Spring 2026. In the 2024-2025 academic year, Filippova was awarded the Gilman International Scholarship.

With the Gilman Scholarship, she was able to study abroad in Amsterdam from Aug. 15 – Dec. 28, and took a study tour to Brussels, Belgium. “I met so many influential people, including diplomats and members of the European parliament, as the study tour focused on facilitating EU and US relations. It greatly impacted me as a person."
