DU Associate Professor of Economics Yavuz Yasar received the 2021 Suraj Mal and Shyama Devi Agarwal Book Prize along with Gamze Çavdar, Associate Professor of Political Science at Colorado State University, for their co-authored book. Through economic and political analysis, "Women in Turkey: Silent Consensus in the Age of Neoliberalism and Islamic Conservatism" (Routledge) investigates how the lives of women in Turkey have been transformed in line with market principles of neoliberalism as well as the Islamic conservative principles of the ruling government of Justice and Development Party since 2002.
