Lamont Jazz Orchestra

The Lamont Jazz Orchestra will perform at the Five Points Jazz Festival in Denver on June 10th at 12:30pm. The festival takes place primarily along Welton Street between 25th and 29th Streets.

"This is a very cool thing, as we are the only student ensemble invited to perform," said Remy Le Boeuf, director of the LJO. "In addition, several Lamont faculty will be performing with their own ensembles, including myself, Annie Booth, Mike Abbott, and Zach Rich, as well as current student Adon Biggs, and alumni Camilla Vaitaitis, David Bernot, and Stafford Hunter."

The festival, now in its 20th year, celebrates the history of Denver’s Five Points neighborhood (sometimes referred to as the "Harlem of the West") with music from dozens of bands on eight stages, food and beverage offerings, and family friendly activities.

Festival entrances are located at 26th and Welton streets on both sides of the Welton Street, 26th Avenue and Clarkson Street, and 28th Street between California and Welton streets.

Under the direction of Jazz Studies Director Remy Le Boeuf, DU’s premier 17-piece ensemble performs the standard canon of jazz literature as well as original music by students and faculty. The LJO performs on and off campus throughout the year, often with special guest artists. Recently, LJO tied for first place at the prestigious Next Generation Jazz Festival and performed as part of the legendary Monterey Jazz Festival.
