Learn About Our Program
The Department of Communications Studies prepares students for future careers in many public and civic communication fields, including nonprofit organizations, business and human relations, law and politics, and writing and publishing, among others.
Our faculty are teacher-scholars who create relationships and connections with our communities. Their interests are wide-ranging and they enjoy developing research projects with students.
Communication is essential to all facets of our lives. A major in communication studies not only prepares you to learn to communicate ethically and effectively, but also teaches you to analyze how cultural communication impacts society.
Our faculty believe all students should participate in community-engaged scholarship, and our program offers you the opportunities to take your learning outside the classroom through internships, research and community outreach. You can also hone your public speaking and debating skills as a member of our debate team, which competes regionally and nationally.
