Better Weather

Better Weather will be playing at Lost Lake on Friday, March 8, opening for Post Sex Nachos and Portair's Prima / Vera tour show.

The band consists of Lamont students on the classical and jazz sides: Skyler McCoy (vocals, guitar), Will Eisenberg (keys), Zach Regin (French horn), Evan Farrenkopf (bass guitar), as well as Mason O'Brien and Liam Dooley on background vocals/harmonies. Sean Perman (guitar) is a Lamont alum and Rowan Woodbury (drums) is a CU Boulder alum.

Better Weather will be performing newly written music and considers these to be "the largest acts we've ever opened for."

Led by singer/songwriter/producer Skyler McCoy, Denver-based indie pop band Better Weather released its debut album, Wayfare, in July 2023. The band formed when McCoy began writing songs following a songwriting workshop with Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes.

On record the band's sound is maximalist and cinematic, featuring lush vocal harmonies and instrumentation that balances rock, orchestral and electronic influences. The songs themselves are both experimental and familiar, and filled with vibrant storytelling.

Better Weather recently released a video for NPR's Tiny Desk Competition.

Wayfare was reviewed for New Noise Magazine: "Better Weather brings musical sophistication to an audience in a palpable manner... without limitations." Inspired by a variety of artistic influences, from Ravel and John Williams to Joni Mitchell to Tame Impala, Better Weather brings a wall-of-sound, naturalist folk aesthetic to pop songs—or perhaps vice-versa. Aside from its touring experience, the band continues playing live shows in the Denver, CO area.
