Jobs and Internships

Kickstart Your Future

Our internships give you a head start on your career while enabling you to make a real difference in communities. We see internships and jobs as extensions of classroom learning — across the globe or in the local Denver area, you put theory into practice. Each year, we place approximately 200 students in local, regional, national and international internships that immerse you in professional, real-world work environments.

Featured Internship Fields

Although we offer specialized media-focused majors, many students take electives across the various MFJS majors and seek out internships that allow them to utilize talents spanning research, creativity, writing and digital media production. We assist students in finding career-launching internships in areas such as the following:

Arts, Culture & Entertainment Groups

Join organizations that endeavor to tap the questions, sensation and inspiration at the core of humanity, bringing societal change through arts and cultural interventions. Internships have included the Denver Art Museum, Redline Art Gallery, the Bushwick Film Festival, MGM Studios, Swallow Hill Music and many more.

Government & Political Organizations

Help solve societal problems at the level where decisions get made by working in government and policy-oriented organizations. Internships have included the Colorado Governor’s Office, the National Low-Income Housing Coalition, the Colorado Tourism Office, the National Council of State Legislatures and many more.

International & Intercultural internships

Broaden your world and apply your commitment to intercultural communication by interning abroad or working with multicultural populations in the United States. Past internships include WorldDenver, the African Community Center, the U.S. Department of State (recent placements in Tbilisi, Georgia and Hanoi, Vietnam), and Friends of Gueoul (in Senegal).

Journalism Across Multiple Platforms

From podcasting to digital storytelling and data journalism, the news industry is going through exciting transformations and you can be a part of it. Recent internships have included Westword, NBC News, House of Pod and Colorado Experience (at Rocky Mountain PBS).

Nonprofit, Education & Health Organizations

Some of the most exciting and rewarding uses of your media and communication-focused expertise can come from working in nonprofit sectors aimed at collaboratively creating a more just, healthy and equitable society. Internships in this area have included St. Jude’s Hospital, Girls Inc., American Transplant Foundation, DaVita, the YMCA and Wish of a Lifetime.

Sports, Wellness & Outdoor Life

Just as many students come to Colorado for the healthy lifestyle and great outdoors, so do many companies and organizations. This is a wonderful place to find internships in your passion areas. Past opportunities include: Warren Miller Entertainment, The Nature Conservancy, the US Olympic Committee, and Kroenke Sports.

Strategic Communication and Public Relations

Apply the many exciting skills you’ve learned to engage in meaningful communication with varied audiences. Whether seeking broad experience in an agency environment or honing your interest in a specific sector or industry, there are many interesting possibilities. Recent opportunities include: Barokas Public Relations, COHN Marketing, ID Public Relations, Slow Food Denver, Posh Beauty Essentials and Allied Global Marketing.

Video Production, Digital Media & Design

Be a part of an industry that turns abstract ideas into tangible and meaningful realities for diverse audiences. Design, create, produce! Intern in artistic, agency or corporate environments and assist in filming or editing for commercial, documentary or feature films. Recent opportunities include: Film editing at Postmodern Denver, commercial filmmaking at ZeroSun, Production Assistance on a high-profile political documentary and many more.
