You're Invited to a Special Evening of Strategy and Splendor!

When: February 21, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Where: Anderson Academic Commons, “The Loft,” Room 340

Join us for an enchanting evening of board gaming, where the beauty of birds meets the thrill of strategy in our featured game, Wingspan. This event is not just any game night—it's a journey through avian beauty, echoing the themes of our current exhibit, “Created Permanence: Picturing the Avian Past and Present”, on display in the Anderson Academic Commons

Why Wingspan?

Wingspan is a competitive, card-driven, engine-building board game from designer Elizabeth Hargrave. It's a beautifully crafted game that celebrates the diversity and beauty of birds, making it the perfect companion to our avian-themed exhibit. Players become bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to their network of wildlife preserves.

Experience the Exhibit:

Before the games begin, take an optional guided tour of the “Created Permanence: Picturing the Avian Past and Present.” Discover a curated collection that explores avian representation, from detailed illustrations to contemporary photography.

Game Night Details:

Learn to Play: Never played Wingspan before? No problem! We'll have experts on hand to teach you the ropes.

Prizes and Surprises: Compete for fun prizes and enjoy pizza, sodas, and other snacks.

Connect and Discover: This is a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow bird enthusiasts, board game lovers, and anyone interested in the intersection of art and nature.

Whether you're a seasoned gamer, a bird lover, or simply curious about the thematic connections between board games and art, this evening promises to be a memorable one. Bring your friends, or come ready to make new ones, and let's celebrate the avian world through play and discovery.
