Project DU F.I.L.M.
Film Initiative Linking to Mentors
Project DU F.I.L.M. connects students with faculty, professional alumni and community partners to create, promote and distribute films while creating greater inclusivity in the filmmaking industry. We populate our casts and crews with people from traditionally underrepresented groups and we tell stories often sidelined by mainstream media.
Our Mission
Project DU F.I.L.M., the inclusive experiential filmmaking mentorship program started in 2015 by Professor Sheila E. Schroeder, is needed now more than ever. Recognizing industry-wide and cultural inequities, the mission of Project DU F.I.L.M. is to change the face of filmmaking both in front of and behind the camera by creating intentionally diverse stories and recruiting a variety of alumni and students to participate in creating inclusive media content. We place special emphasis on populating our cast and crews and subjects with people from traditionally underrepresented groups in an effort to level the playing field and provide meaningful career stepping stones.
Behind the Scenes at Project DU F.I.L.M.

—Sheila E. Schroeder, Founder of Project DU F.I.L.M.
