COSA is a network of avid developers and educators dedicated to building healthy communities around new open-source tools. We work with founders to develop inclusive environments, understand how to provide and receive feedback, and support the different people who contribute to and utilize the creative digital tools.

Our Community of Open-Source Art Supporters

COSA is one small part of a long history of institutional efforts to support, create and share knowledge in the digital arts. Most directly, COSA was inspired by the work of the Processing Foundation and of the Frank Ritchie Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University, who have hosted and supported the contributors of numerous open-source arts projects. Many other organizations in the U.S. and beyond are dedicating resources to the open source creative tool ecosystem. Some are listed below, but we love to hear about more, so send us an email!
