KvetchUP Brings Klezmer Across Colorado on Spring Break Tour
This spring break, the klezmer ensemble KvetchUP will take their vibrant blend of traditional and contemporary Jewish music on a four-day tour across Colorado, sharing joyful sounds and building community along the way.
Co-founded by trumpeter Eviatar Shlosberg (MM ’26) and clarinetist Alyx Saeva (PC '26), KvetchUP is a six-piece group dedicated to bringing the spirit of klezmer to diverse audiences. Moving seamlessly between high-energy dance tunes and soulful, expressive melodies, the ensemble aims to create meaningful musical experiences that connect listeners to a rich cultural tradition.
Along with Eviatar and Alyx, the group includes current and former Lamont students Zach Regin (piano), Eva Toncheva (violin), Joe Ricard (tuba), and Chimera Cameron (percussion). Together, they have performed as a featured ensemble with the Lamont Wind Ensemble at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts and at Denver’s monthly klezmer concert series, Festo Festo.
Their upcoming tour will bring Jewish music to communities across the state while highlighting the creativity and initiative of Lamont students. The itinerary includes performances on March 24 at the Har Shalom Center for Jewish Living, March 25 at Kavod Senior Life, March 26 at Colorado College Hillel, and March 27 at University of Colorado Boulder Hillel.
By visiting senior communities, campus organizations, and Jewish cultural centers, KvetchUP hopes to spark joy, foster cultural exchange, and share the living tradition of klezmer with audiences of all backgrounds.
The band’s playful name reflects their spirit. “To kvetch” means “to complain” in Yiddish—but, as the group likes to say, when they kvetch, it’s to UP-lift your spirits. That sense of humor carries into their performances, where storytelling, improvisation, and audience interaction are all part of the experience.
