Emily Kim is a carillonist from Seattle, Washington who began her carillon journey in 2018 as an undergraduate student at the University of Chicago. As a leader of UChicago’s Guild of Carillonneurs, Emily had the opportunity to study carillon performance with Joey Brink, organize summer concerts, and make music for the surrounding community. In June of 2022, Emily graduated with her bachelor’s degree and passed her GCNA Carillonneur Exam. She then went on to study with Eddy Marien at The Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Belgium where she graduated with “great distinction.” Emily has performed on carillons across Europe, Asia, and America and looks forward to continuing to spread her love for this unique instrument. Outside of carillon, Emily has studied classical piano and violin and will be pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Washington starting in the fall.
