R. D. Perry

As a first-generation and queer scholar from Alabama, R. D. Perry, PhD, knows both how strange it can be getting used to college and how beneficial it can be once you do. He was helped immensely by a first-generation student scholar, and he now values providing the same sort of assistance he received to first-generation students in his turn. After doing a tour of southern universities (so he knows some things about transferring too), Dr. Perry finished his BA at the University of Georgia, Athens, where he received his MA. Dr. Perry obtained his PhD in English and medieval studies, with a designated emphasis in critical theory, from the University of California, Berkeley. He writes and regularly teaches on literature from Chaucer to Shakespeare as well as on the history of philosophy.
