In honor of Black History Month, CBS News met a group on a mission to preserve and revive a rich musical treasure. The University of Denver/Lamont School of Music choir is unique: the historic songs they sing are called "spirituals" created by enslaved African Americans to express virtue in the face of suffering.
The Lamont School of Music heats up the Colorado winter with a sizzling collection of faculty and guest artists presenting solo recitals and performing with the symphony orchestra, jazz and wind ensembles. Performances are in the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts on the University of Denver campus.

Be active. Have fun. Give back! That’s the motto for the Brewery Running Series, an initiative co-founded by DU alumna Morgan Jappe (BM '08). From its humble beginnings eight years ago, the Brewery Running Series now boasts events across the nation where participants complete a 5K, followed by beers at a local brewery. A portion of the proceeds goes back to local nonprofits.
