We're so excited to share what our students, alumni, faculty and staff have been doing in the past year. From students taking their coursework into the community to empower women in the workplace, to professor Sarah Watamura starting programs to help heal and prevent trauma, the CAHSS community is accomplishing incredible things.
Allison Welty (MA ’15) is a learner at heart. Welty first studied history and English as an undergraduate, then came to DU for an MA in English — and her studies haven’t stopped there.
Having pursued multiple career paths and encountered roadblocks along the way, Jeremiah Jones now serves as a deputy district attorney in Cortez, Colorado, a position that allows him to put the skills he learned at DU into everyday practice.
When he came to DU, Micah Messenheimer (MA ’10) already held a BFA and MFA, but despite his extensive studio experience he was looking for something more. Messenheimer, who now works as curator of photography at the Library of Congress, wanted to deepen his historical knowledge and direct his own course of study while building on professional opportunities.
When Steve Johnson (BSME '67) chose the University of Denver for his undergraduate education, two factors mattered most: He wanted a good program in mechanical engineering and, as a first-generation college student from a low-income family in Portland, Oregon, he needed significant financial aid. He also had an interest in music.
